This -song debut EP shows the promise that The Future Sound Of London has. It has been thirteen years The Future Sound Of London’ last studio CD, “Dead Cities” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Lead single “Herd Killing” and “Dead Cities” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album is in perfect progression from The Future Sound Of London!
Dead Cities is excellent song though, very addictive. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Her Face Forms in Summertime. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Song Everyone in the World Is Doing Something Without Me is actually a funny song. The sound in My Kingdom is really warm and The Future Sound Of London’s signature voice is still very much present. One listen to the sheer beauty of My Kingdom / Max was all I needed. Max - A classic The Future Sound Of London track. Simple and heartfelt closing track Antique Toy closes Dead Cities on a high note. Quagmire gives good insight into the truths. In a State of Permanent Abyss is The Future Sound Of London’s best work in years. Glass is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. In Yage it becomes nowhere more obvious that The Future Sound Of London has yet to define own style. Vit Drowning good vocals. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Future Sound Of London. Vit Drowing / Through Your Gills I Breathe had me crying as I was able to relate so well. First Death in the Family is outstanding work of The Future Sound Of London.
