Tommy Dorsey’s debut, ‘Boogie Woogie’, does not fit easily into one genre. For older fans Boogie Woogie will put a massive smile accross your face. Since completing 1993’s ‘I’m Gettin’ Sentimental Over You’, Tommy Dorsey fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Boogie Woogie.
You have to get essence of the Opus One’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. From the moment you listen to Boogie Woogie you’re hooked. The song feels complete. I like the idea behind Song of India. In Marie the music gets its power. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Tommy Dorsey breathes new life into the music in Oh, Look At Me Now!. This is one hell of a track. Hawaiian War Chant is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. I’ll Be Seeing You is outstanding work of Tommy Dorsey.
