Since Tri Yann last CD (En Concert) on Virgin Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Tri Yann has. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Tri Yann energies, virtually a rebirth. I wish that “En Concert” album was instrumental.
I find myself hearing bits of Ce Sont Les Filles Des Forges here and there throughout my waking hours. I hope to keep hearing Tri Yann works for a long time to come. Kan An Alarc’h is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Le Dauphin one is one of the better boring ones. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I believe Mrs Mc Dermott Roches Favourite is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Les Metamorphoses De Madeleine Bernard is beautiful, yet underrated track. In Kan Ar Kann Tri Yann spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Tri Yann allows each song to breathe and flourish. Guerre Guerre,Vente Vent La Fleur… - another great track from the En Concert album. Strong, powerful vocals of Tri Yann in Le Loup,Le Renard,La Jument De Michaud are very impressive. Song For Ye Jacobites is a medium tempo tune. Les 90 Macons is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Le Soleil Est Noir is simple, dignified and effective, Tri Yann refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. A fantastic track full of wonder. Dans Les Prisons De Nantes - I just love it.
