This -song debut EP shows the promise that Various Artists has. Various Artists’s debut, ‘Journeys By Dj’, does not fit easily into one genre. When you buy a Various Artists album, you know exactly what you’re getting! To me Various Artists is the best band ever.
Bola (Philorene) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Journeys By Dj have ended. The Dusk (Dj Food) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Various Artists is all about. Free (Moody Boys) without a doubt is the standout song of Journeys By Dj. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Journeys By Dj. Hot Flush (Red Snapper) hits the heart. Various Artists emotions are reflected through Again Son (Love Lee). Unifygain Son (Pressure Drop) - A strong beat. There is cool mix of music in Message From Our Sponsor (Jello Biafra). I can’t stop playing Freshmess (Bandulu Mix) (Hookian Minds). Friendly Pressure (Acapella) (Jhelisa) great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Nu Blud (Dj Food) good vocals. I think Bridge Is Over (Bdp) is the best song Various Artists has ever done. Into The 90’s (Photek) is astounding and different song. Get Journeys By Dj and turn on Balthus Bemused By Colour (Harold Budd) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. I can’t stop humming along Grace (Luke Slater’s 7Th Palin). Trumpet Riff (Raphael Corderos) is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Music of Blood Vibes (Masters@work) is gentle, never overbearing. Mag (Gescom) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. King Of The Beats (Mantronix) (1:56) - awsome. Various Artists rocks harder than ever with Find A Way (Acapella) (Coldcut). This is probably my favorite song on the album. Strong, powerful vocals of Various Artists in Greedy Beat (Coldcut) are very impressive. Beats & Pieces (Coldcut) is one of my favorite songs by Various Artists. The sound in If There Was No Gravity (Air Liquid) is really warm and Various Artists’s signature voice is still very much present. Put African Drug (Bob Holroyd) into car stereo for your highway driving Manganese In Deep Violet (Bedouin Ascent) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. No Various Artists song has come close to capturing my attention as Mo Beats (Coldcut) did. Blew our minds when we first heard Fuk (Plastikman). King Ashabanapal (Funki Porcini) - arguably the best track on Journeys By Dj album. This song stands out greatly from the others. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Journeys By Dj. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer.
