This is the first studio album from Wayne Shorter since bad diagnosis in 1995. It has been ten years Wayne Shorter’ last studio CD, “High Life” which won Array Academy Awards� and was nominated for album of the year. It’s natural for Wayne Shorter to take a stab at ‘Children Of The Night’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
At The Fair gives taste of what makes Wayne Shorter special as a musician. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. On The Milky Way Express without a doubt is the standout song of High Life. Pandora Awakened - Check out that bassline! I believe Virgo Rising is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. High Life is a bit of a show-tune. Midnight In Carlotta’s Hair is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Although Black Swan (In Memory Of Susan Portlynn Romeo) is very melodic it is far from sad.
