This is the first studio album from Wynton Marsalis since bad diagnosis in 1996. Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Wynton Marsalis comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Now signed to Wynton Marsalis’s ForeFront Records, the title track from second album “With Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers Vol. 1 Time Will Tell” leads Wynton Marsalis’s back-to-school campaign. One of Wynton Marsalis’s best albums yet.
Angel Eyes is the albums biggest surprise. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think E.T.A. is my favorite song on With Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers Vol. 1 Time Will Tell. In Time Will Tell full palet of sound is used by Wynton Marsalis to accentuate the presentation. Moanin’ is a bit different from Wynton Marsalis stereotypical stuff. Free for All to me is the best you can get from Wynton Marsalis. Best song on the album, love it.
